Would you like to help our incoming international students settle into Latvia, Riga, and the Academy’s study environment?
You can support our incoming international students who will join us this spring by making new friends, improving your language skills, becoming part of our international student community, learning about new cultures, and sharing unforgettable experiences through planning and attending events together or getting to know Riga and Latvia.
Every year, we welcome international degree and exchange students from various countries to study at our Academy, who often require support, especially during their first months in Latvia.
A Student Buddy is a student who meets and supports international students who have just arrived to study and are getting to know our country, campus, and way of life for the first time.
You can help them:
- settle into a new environment and meet new people, especially at the beginning of their studies at our Academy;
- discover Riga and the Academy’s campus life;
- deal with day-to-day issues such as buying travel tickets, opening a bank account, shopping, using the study schedule, and the Academy's internal systems;
- by providing study tips;
- stay up-to-date on various events and activities.
We will try to organise a meeting between the registered Student Buddies, which will allow you to exchange ideas and organise joint activities.
As a Student Buddy, you should be available to your group from the Welcome and Orientation Week onward. The Welcome and Orientation Week will take place from 2 to 6 February 2026 for undergraduate (bachelor’s) and postgraduate (master's) students. Your participation, including a brief presentation of yourself and your willingness to support our international students on the first day of Welcome and Orientation Week, is mandatory.
