Baltic International Academy

The Baltic International Academy (up to 2006 it was called Baltic Russian Institute)is the largest non-governmental Higher education establishment in the Baltic States and Eastern European countries (it was established in 1992). The number of students amounts to 7,500 students, including 450 foreign students from 20 countries worldwide.
22 computer laboratories, 17 reading rooms, the unique system “Media-bridge” (in Riga and branch establishments: Daugavpils, Yekabpils, Rezekne, Liepaya, Ventspils, Smiltene, Yelgava), 300 staff lecturers, 100 of which are scientific doctors and professors.
BIA provide training in higher professional education of the first and second levels (duration of studies is 2-2,5 years and 4-4,5 years); in academic and professional Bachelor programme (duration of studies – 2-2,5 and 4-4,5 years), as well as in professional and academic Master programme and Doctoral studies.
BIA provide multilingual training under the programme “Eurolingua:
Russian language of instruction group – 75% - in Russian + in Latvian and English;
Latvian language of instruction group – 75 % - in Latvian + in Russian and English;
English language of instruction group – 75% - in English + in Russian and Latvian.
Students can study English, German, French, Spanish, Swedish, and Russian as foreign languages.

- Exchange student programme “ERASMUS”, giving an opportunity for students to participate under the exchange programme with a range of European universities starting from the 2nd study year;
- The programme «TEMPUS» , is a participation in different European projects jointly with higher education establishments - non-members of the EU;
- European Training Foundation, ETF , within the framework of grants students are enabled to do an internship;
- Within the framework of European Social Fund- students do an internship in the Latvian companies and organizations.
